 59TH CORK VETERAN RUN    19 JULY 2014 <\/u><\/span><\/h1>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Munster Vintage Motor Cycle and Car Club are pleased to report that the 59<\/span>th<\/sup> Cork Veteran Run, held on Saturday 19<\/span>th<\/sup> July 2014 was a great success. The event started at The Rising Tide in Glounthaune, where entrants logged in, received their route documentation and were supplied with tea, coffee and freshly baked scones!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The morning route covered 40 miles, to a lunch break at Springfort Hall Hotel, north of Mallow. The afternoon route was a similar distance, to prizegiving at The Anglers Rest, Carrigrohane.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There were 68 starters on the event, 41 cars ranging from a 1910 White to a 1992 Mazda MX5 and 27 motorcycles, from a 1912 Sun to a 1981 Honda. The winners of the awards were as follows:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Ross Hinds Shield<\/u> for the oldest Car ………………………Paddy Guerin 1910 White GA<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The C A B Cup<\/u> for the best Car ………………………………….Dermot Crowley 1953 MG TD<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Sam Hull Cup<\/u> for the oldest Motorcycle ………………..John Quirke 1912 Sun 3¾ HP<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Joe Jackson Cup <\/u>for the best motorcycle ………………Greg Kelleher 1962 BMW R50\/2<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Mayfield Cup<\/u> for the best unrestored motorcycle……Noel O’Sullivan 1924 BSA L24<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Alkin Cup<\/u> for the car that travelled the greatest distance to the event …………. Robert Swan 1975 Morgan 4\/4<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Munster Motor Cycle and Car Club Cup<\/u> for the motorcycle that travelled the greatest distance to the event …………….. Brian Smyth 1927 Sunbeam 9<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Next year will see the 60<\/span>th<\/sup> running of the Cork Veteran Run and Munster Vintage Motor Cycle and Car Club are already planning the event and will be hoping for a bigger entry than ever to celebrate the occasion.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
