This Saturday & Sunday sees a busy weekend for vintage enthusiasts. The Cobh Classic Car Club run their Titanic Run on Saturday starting from the Commodore Hotel at 11 o clock and has, so far, over thirty cars entered for the event.

On Sunday we are organising multiple events with the highlight being the 75th Anniversary Event commemorating the Cork races of 1936, 37 and 38. Approx 45 cars are entered for the event including Tom Dark’s Bugatti T59/50B, Alan Beardshaw’s MG K3. Kieran White’s TRS, Yves Honegger’s Bugatti T57, Donal Morrissey’s Riley Brooklands and our own Michael Foy in his Smithfield Special. All of those cars competed in Cork in the 30s with the ‘Cork Bugatti’ recording a speed of over 147 mph on the Straight Road. Add in some further makes from Alfa, MG, Morgan, Alvis, Vauxhall, Lagonda, Austin, Turner, Ford, Bentley, Wolseley, Singer, Hillman, Morris and a Bugatti Brescia T23 and we have some fine cars that we may never see in Cork again.

There will be a souvenir programme and event book for sale during the day. PLEASE NOTE; there will be no parking allowed on the Straight Road and you can view the Parade Laps from anywhere on the circuit.

The same day will see a static display in the grounds of the County Hall and a memorabilia display in the foyer of County Hall. A run to Blarney takes place at two o clock. Entries have been steady and a full complement of cars looks probable. PLEASE NOTE NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN ON THE DAY FOR THE RUN.

Finally, a farewell dinner takes place in Rochestown Park Hotel on Sunday evening
