Dear IVVCC Affiliated Club,

Nowadays most of the legislation affecting the ownership and use of historic vehicles is based on decisions by the European Union. This is one of the reasons the IVVCC is a member of FIVA, the international federation for historic vehicles. Since 1966 FIVA has successfully lobbied for your interests as a historic vehicle owner behind the scenes of the EU institutions such as the European Parliament.

FIVA is asking all historic vehicle enthusiasts to participate in a survey that will to be rolled out simultaneously in Fifteen countries. This survey together with surveys aimed at historic vehicle clubs and at the historic vehicle business sector will help FIVA gather the data they require to continue successful lobbying work in Brussels. The Survey will commence on March 26th 2014. A link to the survey will be placed on the IVVCC website http://www.ivvcc.ie on that date.

It is important that the data available to FIVA and the IVVCC when lobbying on your behalf is the fullest, most accurate and up to date data available. For this reason we would ask you to publicise the survey to the greatest extent possible in club journals, newsletters, websites and at club meetings etc.. Below is the detail of the survey. If you would like to link to it the detail is at http://www.ivvcc.ie/php/site.php?page=fivasurvey1

Thank you for your assistance.
Kind Regards,
IVVCC

FIVA Web Linked Survey

You are asked to participate in an important, web linked survey. From March 26th 2014 you will find it at online.gfk.com/fiva-survey.nl or at www.ivvcc.ie.

Think of issues like environmental zones, road worthiness inspections, taxes, and special license plates, all those issues where there is a need for special attention to the position of historic vehicles.

Nowadays most of the legislation affecting the ownership and use of historic vehicles is based on decisions by the European Union. This is one of the reasons the IVVCC is a member of FIVA, the International federation for historic vehicles. Since 1966 FIVA has successfully lobbied for your interests as a historic vehicle owner behind the scenes of the EU institutions like the European Parliament. This explains why the initiative for this survey comes from FIVA. It will be rolled out simultaneously in 15 EU countries. Together with surveys aimed at historic vehicle clubs and at the historic vehicle business sector.

The data the survey will produce is the fuel FIVA needs for successful continuing lobbying work in Brussels. The IVVCC also needs such data when addressing the authorities of our country on issues of importance for historic vehicle enthusiasts. The survey aims at collecting data from 15 EU countries on ownership and use in 2013 of all types of historic motor vehicles, not only cars of all categories, but for instance motorcycles, commercials and tractors too.

There is a lot of EU regulation in the pipeline that will create new challenges, especially for the use of historic vehicles on public roads. The more owners taking part in the survey, the better the chance that the IVVCC and FIVA will be able to face these future challenges. The IVVCC therefore strongly recommends you log on to the survey and complete it. A lot of data is being asked for and for some of this you will need to have a good memory of what you did with your historic vehicle(s) in 2013. For instance, how much you have driven, how many events you visited, what costs you incurred in 2013 for maintenance, restoration etc.. Therefore, you are advised to have some relevant documentation within reach when completing the survey. For full compliance with all standards of privacy and data protection the survey is set up and supervised by a well known international market research company, GfK. This guarantees that it will never be possible to link the data you enter with you. Survey access will close by June 2st and the information based upon the data given will be published in Autumn this year.

Please complete the survey as soon as possible afer 26th March !!
