The course had its start / finish line on the Carrigrohane Straight, near where the County Hall is now situated.  From there, the six mile circuit went towards the city and turned hairpin right at Victoria Cross, up to Dennehy’s Cross and on to Model Farm Road.  Having  passed Forge Hill Bend and Gravel Pit Bend it made its way to Poulavone Hairpin, now a roundabout near Ballincollig,  before heading back, via Hell Hole Bend, onto the Carrigrohane Straight where speeds of over 150mph (240 kph) would have been reached.
